Port Townsend, on the Olympic Peninsula, was devastated by the loss of jobs, its geographic isolation, the downturn in the economy, and the lack of attention given to small business by the federal government and the investment and banking communities.
But, they didn’t give up. They didn’t accept the status quo. The community joined together and invested in themselves and in one another. Through interviews with multiple small business owners, By Us tells the story of what a single small-town community can do when it assumes personal responsibility for its economic future.
