Documentary
Animal House of Blues is a story about how a small Oregon town helped create Animal House; and how that led to the creation of The Blues Brothers. It all started in the basement of the Animal House set, where the Toga Party was being filmed with the Northwest’s top Blues and Jazz musicians performing as Otis Day’s Knights. Later that night, the cast and crew from Animal House followed Bluesman Robert Cray to The Eugene Hotel where he was playing in a splinter group called The Crayhawks with Blues Harp player Curtis Salgado. Before long, Curtis and Belushi became fast friends. But, it was this documentary filmmaker who pushed Belushi onstage to sing “Hey Bartender” on Halloween, October 31st, 1977. The film then follows the celebrations of these milestones in Cottage Grove, and the greater Oregon community, for four decades. FREE SHOWING. No ticket required.
